A licensed English-speaking guide is already included in the base price of every one of our itineraries. The real question is usually whether to upgrade to a private vehicle and guide instead of a shared group — and what a specialist guide costs on top of that.
What's Included by Default
Every itinerary includes an English-speaking guide appropriate to the route — a general guide for our Classic Highlights and Family itineraries, a licensed archaeological guide for Hidden Civilizations, a certified climbing guide for Wadi Rum canyoning, and so on.
Private Vehicle & Guide Upgrade
Most of our itineraries offer a private/small-group upgrade over the shared-transport Standard tier — typically an additional 130–210 JD per person depending on the itinerary, covering a dedicated vehicle and guide throughout rather than a shared coach or van.
Specialist Guide Add-On
For travelers wanting a deeper specialist — an Egyptologist or archaeologist-trained private guide replacing the standard guide for a day — this runs around 120 JD as a group rate (not per person) for a full day, available as an à la carte add-on on any itinerary.
Why Guide Quality Varies So Much Across Operators
Licensing standards in Jordan mean a "guide" can range from a general tour escort to a specialist with years of site-specific training. Ask any operator directly what license level and specialization their guide holds — it's a fair question, and one we're happy to answer for every itinerary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is tipping the guide separate from these costs?
Yes — tips are not included in guide pricing. A general benchmark is 5–10 JD per traveler per day, adjusted for group size and service length.
Can I request the same guide for my entire trip?
On several of our itineraries (including Hidden Civilizations), one guide stays with the group for the full route rather than being swapped daily — ask us when booking if this matters to you.
