March–May and September–November are Jordan's best months — warm days, cool evenings, and comfortable conditions for walking Petra and trekking Dana. December–February and June–August are Jordan's two off-season windows, each with its own trade-offs and discounted rates.
Spring (March–May)
The single best stretch for most itineraries: wildflowers across the Dana Biosphere Reserve, comfortable trekking temperatures, and clear skies for Wadi Rum stargazing. This is also when flash-flood risk from winter rain has passed, so canyoning routes like Wadi Ghuweir are reliably open.
Summer (June–August)
Daytime temperatures regularly exceed 38–40°C in Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Jordan Valley. The Dead Sea and Aqaba stay hot but are tempered by water. Our Desert Silence & Healing and Classic Highlights itineraries shift outdoor activity blocks to before 7:00am and after 4:00pm in summer, and Summer Heat season pricing runs 15% below standard rates.
Autumn (September–November)
Along with spring, this is peak comfort season — warm days, mild nights, and Dana's terrain turning gold. Book several months ahead if traveling in October or November, since this is also peak demand season.
Winter (December–February)
Cooler days (10–16°C), cold nights in Petra and Wadi Rum, and occasional rain or light snow in the highlands. Sites are noticeably quieter and hotel rates drop the most of any season — Winter Value pricing runs 20% below standard rates across our itineraries. It's arguably the best season for our Desert Silence & Healing route, since Ma'in's hot springs and the Dead Sea's warm water are especially welcome against cool air. One exception: canyoning and technical scrambling routes on our Rift Valley Traverse are weather-dependent this time of year due to flash-flood risk.
Blackout Dates to Know
Standard high-season rates apply during December 20–January 5, Easter week, and Eid al-Fitr/Eid al-Adha (dates shift yearly on the Islamic calendar) regardless of month, since these are peak-demand windows even inside an otherwise quiet season.
